Two firefighters were hurt in a massive electrical blaze inside an Upper Manhattan apartment building late Tuesday, the FDNY said.
The fire broke out at 7 p.m. in an apartment on the top floor of the 6-story building on Post Avenue near Academy Street in Inwood, officials said.
The flames extended into the walls and the cockloft and escalated into a four-alarm blaze by about 8:30 p.m., the department said. It was finally placed under control by about 10:45 p.m.
Two firefighters were taken to North Central Bronx Hospital in specified condition.
The FDNY confirmed Wednesday morning that the fire was accidental.
A smoke alarm was present but not activated, officials said.
