Michelle Mone has jetted off with her husband to a £7million villa in the Algarve – which he reportedly bought three months after their homes were raided by police investigating their £200million government PPE contract.

Dough Barrowman purchased the Portuguese property through an offshore firm last July, according to reports – 23 months after allegedly receiving £65million in profits from PPE Medpro Ltd.

The company, which was set up by their business associate Anthony Page, is being sued for more than £130million by the Department of Health over claims its gowns could not be used by the NHS.

Both the couple and PPE Medpro deny any wrongdoing.

The bra tycoon and her husband already boast an enviable property collection, including £20million a London house, an Isle of Man estate and a £40million Caribbean home.

They arrived in Faro last week via private jet and have been seen relaxing in local restaurants and enjoying golf at the exclusive Quinta do Lago resort, The Mirror reported.

Baroness Mone is under investigation by the National Crime Agency as part of a fraud investigation into a Covid supplies company she recommended to ministers.

Their homes in London and the Isle of Man were raided last April by NCA officers.

She is also being probed by the House of Lords over concerns that she may have failed to declare an interest in PPE Medpro and lobbying for it to win £203million in NHS contracts, and has lost the Tory whip after taking a break from Parliament in an attempt to clear her name.

The Government is also suing the firm for allegedly breaching the terms of one deal to supply 25million surgical gowns for medics.

Questioned in Portugal by the Mirror, she said:  ‘Why are you doing this? Why aren’t you reporting what they are doing to us?

‘Have you read the defence? Do you expect me to talk to you when you are being an a******e?’

When asked if she owned a nearby villa that is registered in Delaware – a popular tax haven – she replied: ‘Nothing is owned by me. It is all owned by my husband.’

A spokesman for Barrowman said: ‘All laws and disclosures have been complied with regarding the property.

‘The property was not bought with profits from supplying PPE.’

Baroness Mone has denied reports she benefited from PPE Medpro winning contracts worth more than £200million during the pandemic.

It has been claimed that the politician, who was made a Tory peer by ex-prime minister David Cameron in 2015, and her children received £29million originating from profits of the company.

She is alleged to have helped PPE Medpro secure a place in a Government ‘VIP lane’ for Covid contracts.

Among those sharing the Mirror story this morning was Carol Vorderman, Baroness Mone’s former friend turned enemy.

Vorderman, 62, used to be close to the embattled politician, with the pair regularly having ‘great fun’ on nights out together.

But the relationship has now turned sour, with the former Countdown host repeatedly attacking the peer over claims about her business dealings during the pandemic.
