A man was killed and another wounded inside a Bronx subway station Saturday after opening the gate for their fare-beating attacker, police said.
Cops were called to the Morris Avenue station in Soundview at about 4:30 a.m., where they found two men at the bottom of the stairs to the southbound 6 train platform, both with stab wounds to the torso, officials said.
The pair had been entering the station and were stopped by an unknown man who asked them to let him in, cops said.
One of the men popped open the metal gate for the farebeater, who then followed them up to the elevated platform.
While the group waited for the train, an argument broke out — and the freeloading straphanger stabbed both men, then ran off, authorities said.
A 25-year-old victim was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital and pronounced dead, authorities said.
The second man, 28, was taken to Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.
Police are still searching for their attacker, who is believed to be in his 40’s.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the dispute.
