Comic Con 2021: Superheroes bring capes, cowls and Covid vaccine proof

Superheroes bring their capes, cowls and Covid vaccination proof to this year’s Comic Con event after it was cancelled by pandemic in 2020

  • If attendees of the event at London’s ExceL centre cannot provide vaccination proof they have to give proof of a negative test
  • A final option offered is proof of natural immunity shown through a positive PCR test
  • The event was cancelled in October 2020 as organisers ‘could not deliver’ the same experience due to the pandemic

Attendees of this year’s Comic Con event have to bring proof of vaccination with them- after it was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.

If they cannot provide vaccination status they have to give proof of a negative COVID test within the last 48 hours which includes a lateral flow.

The final option the event offers is proof of natural immunity shown through a positive PCR test result for COVID-19, lasting for 180 days after the test and following completion of self-isolation.

Comic Con 2021, held at the ExCeL in London, has reduced numbers of attendees as well, to ensure social distancing and the event organisers have encouraged those with tickets to the event to carry on wearing masks where possible.

The event was cancelled in October 2020 because organisers ‘could not deliver’ the experience attendees wanted due to Covid.

MCM Comic Con 2021 runs from 22-24 October and has so far seen happy visitors celebrate being able to gather together dressed up again as their favourite characters.
