The Archers: Is Lynda Snell dead? Did she die – is she leaving?

Lynda Snell is the hotel receptionist at Grey Gables, the Ambridge Country House hotel in The Archers and is known for being at the centre of any drama in Ambridge. She has been voiced by British actress Lynda Snell since 1986 on BBC Radio 4.

Is Lynda Snell dead?

The latest episode of The Archers was not short of drama, with a mysterious explosion threatening the lives son some of Armitage’s notable residents.

The explosion came from the kitchens of Grey Gables, Ambridge’s country house hotel.

At the time of the blast, Lynda Snell (voiced by Carole Boyd) and Freddie Pargetter (Toby Laurence) were in the hotel’s staff room.

Stumbling out from the rubble, Freddie found an unconscious Lynda pinned under a table, nearby the unknown worker who was doing building work in the kitchen.

Thankfully a wounded Roy Tucker (Ian Pepperell) came to the rescue and managed to help get Freddie and an unconscious Lynda out of the burning building.

Last night’s episode (Tuesday, March 10) revealed last night that Lynda had been badly burned and her life was still in grave danger.

There is some hope that Lynda is still alive after Jim (John Rowe) told a distraught Robert (Graham Blockey) that although she is broken, she is still alive.

Hopefully, listeners will find out at 7pm tonight (Wednesday, March 11) on Radio 4 if her life is still in grave danger.

The Archers fans have been taking to Twitter to share their thoughts and reactions to Lynda’s potential death.

Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp shared a text from her sister on Twitter which said: “If Linda Snell dies I think I will stop listening”

Alongside the photo, she said: “Just noticed this text from my sister. I think it would be very rash to do such a thing in the current climate, the nation needs its stalwarts & battle axes. @BBCRadio4 @BBCTheArchers.”

She added: “It’s all very well retweeting it @BBCTheArchers but are you going to act on it? The nation needs Lynda Snell right now. #besensible.”

One fan tweeted: “Pandemic, Shmamdemic. Lynda’s fate is what’s keeping me up at night, no joke.”

A second fan said: “It’s been a very trying week already and now we’ve got Linda to really worry about.”

A third fan tweeted: “If Lynda does survive she won’t be the same, Lynda. I’m furious with the writers for making her suffer like this!!”

Is Carole Boyd leaving The Archers?

At the moment there has been no news of Carole Boyd leaving The Archers.

Boyd, aged 79, has voiced the character Lynda since 1986, so she will no doubt be sorely missed by listeners across the world if she does leave The Archers behind.

Fans are already mourning Boyd potentially leaving the show.

One fan tweeted: “Carole Boyd is 79. Amazing. Maybe she’d had enough of being Lynda and wanted to retire?

If Lynda’s gone I’ll miss her. #thearchers.”
