Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) was left fighting for her life last year in Hollyoaks as she was shot and left for dead on the dancefloor of The Loft, and viewers later discovers that James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) and Grace Black (Tamara Wall) were the culprits — a shocking revelation that Mercedes learns for herself in the coming episodes, as Liam Donovan (Jude Monk McGowan) demands she take revenge by killing his own sister.
Liam has been a shell of his former self ever since Jesse (Luke Jerdy) tragically died earlier this year, and thus he’s been hellbent on getting revenge on those that have harmed both he and his family.
It started with Maxine (Nikki Sanderson) — whom he believed was responsible for his brother’s demise — but the list of enemies has quickly grown, and the likes of Mercedes, James and even Grace have all become primary targets.
In the coming episodes, his plan for revenge reaches something of a crescendo, as he sets about taking things to the next level.
With Liam’s unhinged behaviour having left her in fear of her life, Mercedes warns Grace to get control of her brother, but the pair soon learn that Liam has been pimping Maxine out, and thus they resolve to put an end to his reign of terror.
However, Liam is busy printing off invitations to his ‘Devil’s Dinner Party’, and — later — Grace and Mercedes confront Liam about his actions in regards to Maxine, and he explains that he wanted to make the young woman pay for the role he believes she had in Jesse’s death.
Liam becomes more and more unhinged as the week progresses — determined to see his plan come to fruition. John Paul (James Sutton) is horrified when Liam shows up at the school and proceeds to throw him into the back of a van. After doing so, Liam then convinces Sylver (David Tag) that Grace is trouble.
Meanwhile, Mercedes stumbles upon Grace trying on wedding dresses — something which allows her to realise she’s lost her chance to be with Sylver, and thus gives Grace the divorce papers. However, there’s panic afoot, as Mercedes later receives a text — and it’s one that reveals Sylver is in trouble.
What’s more, Mercedes, Grace, Maxine and James are summoned to The Emporium, and — once they’ arrive — they find invitations to Liam’s ‘Devil’s Dinner Party — an event which is due to commence at The Dog.
Liam is delighted when his guests arrive, but — upon their arrival — it becomes apparent that the host is more manic than ever, as he reveals that this is a meal that they certainly won’t forget.
After the pleasantries, Liam locks them all in, before inviting them to take a seat at the devilish dinner table he’s prepared on their behalf.
Confusion is aplenty among the guests, as they wonder where Sylver and John Paul are, and thus Liam resolves to give them three minutes to locate them.
Grace and James later return from their search — seemingly having been unable to locate the missing persons — but they’ve got a parcel.
Afterwards, Mercedes gets quite the shock — not ot mention the answer to the question that she’s been searching months for — as Liam delights in telling her that it was Grace and James that hot her.
The culprits attempts to explain their actions, but there’s little time t process what’s happening, as Liam promises to let everyone live if Mercedes kills Grace.
Will Mercedes agree to Liam’s terms and carry out the ultimate act of revenge?
Later, armed police surround The Dog — but what has transpired?
The following day, the village reels — but is Grace still alive?
