The Scottish drama follows DI Jimmy Perez (played by Douglas Henshall) and his team as they use their skills to delve into crimes and crack cases. Tosh (Alison O’Donnell) is back on the BBC programme after the show faced a hiatus due to the pandemic, and opened up about what it was like to reprise her role. The actress mentioned how everyone “adores” Donnie actor Angus Miller.

Ambitious and dedicated to her job, Tosh has a close relationship with Jimmy.

In the latest episodes, Tosh has a new love interest and actress Alsion has enjoyed delving into her character’s personal life.

“Angus Miller is the most popular man on set,” the Shetland star explained.

She added: “Everybody adores him. He’s hilarious and sweet and daft and wonderful.

“I look forward to our scenes so much.

“From the moment we met, we were so comfortable with each other.”

Speaking to the BBC, Alison continued: “We have a really easy relationship and working with him, the feeling that I get, is exactly why I always wanted to be an actress.

“There’s just something alive between us.

“I’ve learned that our scenes are never what I think they’re going to be because once Angus is in front of me things start to happen of their own accord and it’s surprising and thrilling and like being in freefall.

“I just have to surrender to it and trust that it’s right because that stuff has a life of its own.”

Series six has been met with the same enthusiasm by fans as previous seasons, although the cast initially had no idea if the instalments would be going ahead due to the pandemic.

Thankfully, filming eventually went ahead for the series, which is based on the novels of the same name by Ann Cleeves.

The author is also behind ITV’s Vera, fans of which have been able to enjoy 10 seasons so far.

In the latest episode of Shetland, the team faced a dead end in the hunt for Alex Galbraith’s (Jim Sturgeon) killer.

Tosh led Perez to the remote island of Fetlar as part of their investigation.

Shetland’s final episode of series six will air this week, and fans are looking forward to seeing all the loose ends of the plot tied up.

A synopsis for the final instalment reads: “As Perez closes in on the identity of Galbraith’s killer, he struggles with Duncan’s secret, while Donna has one more surprise in store.”

Will fans get the conclusion to the series they have hoped for?

Shetland continues on Wednesday on BBC One at 9pm.
