RED Dwarf will return for more specials after The Promised Land success, Craig Charles has revealed.
The hit sci-fi comedy delighted fans earlier this year when the Dave channel aired a new 90 minute special.
And now Craig, 56, has revealed the cast – which includes Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn – are up for reuniting for future specials.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain via video link, Craig said: "There's life in the old dog yet.
"We did one that came out at Easter, the Promised Land, in a new 90-minute format. We were supposed to do the other one by now but obviously Covid put paid to all of that."
While the cast were disappointed not to be able to film a second special, Craig – who plays Lister – promised fans they will resume filming as soon as possible.
He continued: "But as soon as we can, we want to just do these 90-minute formats now so the feature-length formats because it was so well-received."
He added: "We can’t wait to get together, have a laugh, have a dance, have a hug."
The Promised Land saw the Red Dwarf crew face-off against Rodon, the leader of a band of feral cats, who has pledged to annihilate all those who don't worship him as their God.
Speaking at the time about the special, Craig joked: "I’m really excited to get back on board with the boys from the Dwarf.
"I can’t wait to discuss Robert’s prostate problems, Chris Barrie’s hip replacement and have a proper look at Danny’s new dentures whilst they marvel at the agelessness of the Charles physique.
"I will surely require the services of a chiropractor after dragging these doddering misfits through what promises to be our most epic adventure yet."
Red Dwarf first aired in 1988 until 1999 on BBC Two, before it returned on Dave in 2009.
