Just one of several spin-offs to Starz’ popular crime series, Ghost continued the story of Tariq St Patrick (played by Michael Rainey Jr) after killing his powerful drug dealer father. He’ll continue to work with shady defence lawyer Davis Maclean (Method Man) in the upcoming second season of Power Book II, but he may be distracted by the arrival of his brother, Theo (Redman).
Rapper Method Man has teased a new side to Davis Maclean when Power Book II: Ghost returns to screens this Sunday.
Season two of the hit spin-off series will introduce Theo, the incarcerated brother of Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and Tariq’s hired defence lawyer.
Producer Courtney Kemp ingeniously decided to reunite Method Man with Redman, his long-time rap partner and fellow Def Squad member.
Method Man revealed Courtney had the idea while filming the last few episodes of the first season after Davis’ throwaway line about his brother.
The rapper told Digital Spy: “I’m like, ‘Say no more, yeah, do it, let’s go.’”
The Power star last appeared with Redman on-screen in Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
However, the duo have remained close friends over the years and jumped at the chance to take on a weightier role for the long-running series.
“It came to fruition and I think that people will see a side of Davis that they haven’t seen already,” Method Man teased.
“I mean, they know that he’s a lawyer, he’s very ambitious.
“But they haven’t seen this side of him where he’s dealing with his blood, his family – that nurturing side, that caring side.”
So far in the series, Davis has largely acted in his own self-interest by taking advantage of the Tariq trial to advance his own career.
However, the shrewd lawyer could start to reveal a different side of himself when he starts to reconnect with his brother.

In his performance for season two, Method Man explained his connection to Redman helped him tap into Davis’ nurturing side.
“It wasn’t a big stretch for me, honestly, because you know, I love Redman in real life,” he said.
“But I think it gives way more layers to the character and I applaud the writers for knowing it.”
Their chemistry together will definitely start to come out when Davis and Theo start devising a way for the latter to come out of prison.
Method Man added: “There’s only one way he can do that. He has to do it the legal way.
“Davis has to go through these, he has to compromise, in a sense, you know, to not just to make sure no one finds out what the bigger plan is, but to also assure his brother that he’s doing everything in his power to do right by him.”
Power fans have been waiting since January this year to discover how the story continues, and the addition of Redman is even more reason for them to tune in.
Power Book II: Ghost season 2 premieres Sunday, November 21 on Starz.
