In a new interview, the actor and celeb boxing trainer, who dated the ‘Baywatch’ star back in the 2000s, is asked whether it is okay for Hulu to resurrect the sex tape featuring Pam and her then-boyfriend Tommy.
AceShowbiz -“Pam & Tommy” is set to feature Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee‘s infamous sex tape. While it may pique people’s interest into watching the Hulu series, it isn’t the case for Pamela’s another ex Chuck Zito who isn’t impressed by the idea.
In a new interview with a TMZ reporter, the actor and celeb boxing trainer was asked whether it was okay for Hulu to resurrect the sex tape. “I don’t think so. It was so long ago,” Chuck, who dated Pamela back in the 2000s, said. Joking, he went on to say, “He has been with so many husbands since.”
Referring to Courtney Love‘s Facebook post against the series, the TMZ reporter said, “I think that Courtney’s point is more about how it’s bringing up the trauma again of the tape and how that was release. I mean, to play Devil’s advocate, Hollywood covers messed up stories all the time.” To that, Chuck responded, “Yeah. No s**t. Welcome to Hollywood.”
Prior to this, Pamela’s friend Courtney Love took to her social media account to slam Lily James, who portrays the “Baywatch” star on the upcoming Hulu show, as well as the series itself. “I find this so f***ing outrageous. When Pam / Tommy sex tape was out / myself @pattyschemel @xmadmx were making a record,” Courtney wrote on Facebook back in May. “And the lone women in many recording studios in LA. Where all / ALL! The staff engineers / producers / owners / were watching the sex tape with huge schadenfraude.. Guffaws, It was disgusting. I banned anyone discussing it.. It destroyed my friend Pamelas life. Utterly.”
“Last week I was asked to approve using a Rolling Stone cover of mine / shot by Mark Seliger in this piece of s**t. That they had approved. I said ‘f**k no.’ shocked. Gentleman don’t approve this sort of thing,” the four-time Grammy Award nominee continued. “My heart goes out to Pammy further causing her complex trauma. And shame on Lily James whoever the f**k she is. #vile.”
In response to the criticism, director Craig Gillespie claimed that “Pam & Tommy” wasn’t meant to embarrass the former couple. “It’s always difficult, you’re dealing with real people and I try to take solace in the fact that I feel like we’re trying to highlight a wrong that happened and gives a humanity to their side of the story, similar to what we did in ‘I, Tonya‘ – show her from a different point of view,” he told TooFab.
“I think we have the same opportunity as we did in ‘I, Tonya’, where people come in with this expectation or perception of what they know about the story and you feel it’s very different,” he continued. “I hope that there would be some solace in the fact that it’s gonna show a very different version that supports their journey.”
Also starring Sebastian Stan as Tommy Lee, “Pam & Tommy” is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2022.
