Olympic hero Mo Farah helps fitness star Joe Wicks achieve speedy 5k run time

JOE Wicks smashed one final goal in 2020 — by getting Sir Mo Farah to help him beat his personal best in a 5K run in his local park.

The keep-fit guru looked set to fail on his ambition to run the distance in less than 19 minutes 30 seconds before the New Year.

But with one day of 2020 left, YouTube star Joe, 34, asked Olympic hero Sir Mo — famed for his MoBot celebration — to run with him.

The pair stunned dog walkers and strollers as four-time gold medallist Mo, 37, acted as pacemaker.

And dad-of-two Joe smashed his personal best by nearly a minute to register a super-fast time of 18:45.

Gasping for breath, Joe told his millions of Instagram followers: “I can’t believe that. It was my gold medal race. That was me pushing myself to the max.

“Mo said to me last night, ‘anything is possible’ — and he’s turned up today to help me do it. My body is in bits, I was licked on the last bit. To go from 19:30 to 18:45 is incredible. What a great way to end the year.”

Joe set his 5K challenge at the start of December, shortly after clocking his first time of 22:14.

He told fans that he wanted to crack 19:30 by the end of the month.

Ugandan Joshua Cheptegei holds the 12:35 world record for a 5K. The average British man completes it in 28 minutes.

But despite slowly improving, Joe was nowhere near his goal until calling on I’m a Celebrity star Mo, whose own best is 12:53.

Mo said: “Keep pushing and anything is possible.”
