Reality star Olivia Attwood, who found fame on Love Island in 2017, is venturing into something completely new as she joins a whole host of other famous faces for ITV show The Games.
And she’s declared that in order to complete the gruelling challenges – which include everything from kayaking to javelin – set by the hosts Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff, she’s had to ditch the booze.
"You can’t be hungover and come in on a Monday and try and dive!" she said ahead of the sports show.
The reality star, 30, who stars in her own series Olivia Meets Her Match with fiancé Bradley Dack, 28, is most definitely out of her comfort zone for this new show – but as we all know, if one person can throw themselves at anything, it’s Liv!
Here the star fills us in with what’s in store, including how we’re all going to see a very different side what we’ve seen before….
Olivia, we hear you’ve given up alcohol to train for The Games?
Yeah, I have to, honestly, you know what I’m like…I go out on a Friday, I come back on a Monday! And I just can’t do it alongside this. So I just said, ‘Right, I’m gonna go teetotal.’ You can’t be hungover and come in on a Monday and try and dive…
So the training has been tough?
I’ve got endurance for boozing and that’s it!
Will viewers see a different side to you on the show?
People asked ‘Are you looking forward to getting rid of any stereotypes anyone had of you?’ I was thinking, ‘Well, that ain’t gonna happen!’ But I think there’s a vulnerability that maybe I’ve shown. It’s been quite exposing at times. I found myself getting quite emotional which is very out of character…because it has been a lot physically, a lot mentally. So I guess it’s a vulnerability that maybe people will see.
We know you used to run for your county, but how has it been trying new sports?
Swimming’s my favourite. Anything upper body is my worst, like javelin. And the weight lifting is just a nightmare!

Do you think you’ll keep any of the sports up after the show is over?
I would like to keep swimming because I’m really enjoying it but it’s just the chlorine…my hair! I’m desperately holding on to every last strand…and my skin! Every night I’m just rolling in moisturiser.
What does Bradley make of your new sporty life?
Brad was like ‘Oh my god now you’re getting fitter, when I retire we can do Ironman events.’ I was like ‘Why don’t you just watch me on the night before you start talking about Ironmans? Because I’m struggling round a 400m track at the moment!
But have you had fun working on the show?
It is an amazing experience and it’s pretty cool we get to do this every day and call it work. It’s been amazing.
We hear you and the other female contestants – Emmerdale’s Rebecca Sarker, singer and footballer Chelcee Grimes, model and influencer Phoenix Gulzar-Brown, newsreader Lucrezia Millarini and TV star and autism champion Christine McGuinness have become a tight unit, with your own WhatsApp group?
Yes…but don’t tell the boys, because they’re not in it!
The Games is on ITV from Monday to Friday, starting 9 May at 9pm.
