Money Heist is back with Netflix releasing the first half of season five on Friday, September 3. Sadly for fans, this will be the last time they are going to be able to watch the antics of the gang, as the creators announced last year that this would be the final ever series. This means that anything could happen, with the final lot of episodes being dropped in just a few months.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Money Heist.
Tokyo (played by Ursula Corbero) and Rio (Miguel Herrán) started falling for one another during the heist on the Royal Mint of Spain.
They grew close during the planning stages of the operation and afterwards, went into hiding together in the Caribbean.
Tokyo grew bored though, and left to go back to the city and ever since, their relationship hasn’t been a steady one.
Despite both of them still having feelings for one another, they have tried to protect themselves from getting hurt by putting an end to their romance.
What is the age gap between Tokyo and Rio?
Through Money Heist, Rio is known as the youngest of the group and was first introduced as a talented hacker.
Describing Rio, Tokyo said: “He’s the Mozart of computers.
“He’s been coding since he was six and knows everything about alarms and electronics.
“For everything else in life, it’s like he was born yesterday.”
According to Rio’s official Money Heist Wiki page, he was born in 1997.
This would mean that Rio is now around 24-years-old in the drama.
While Tokyo’s exact age hasn’t been mentioned, it is said that there is a 12-year age gap between herself and Rio.
Therefore, this would make Tokyo around the age of 36.
Unfortunately, a happy ending wasn’t in store for the once loved-up couple.

Money Heist season 5, part 2: Who will take over as narrator? [EXPLAINER]
Tokyo, Manila (Belén Cuesta) and Denver (Jaime Lorente) were hiding in the kitchen in season five’s midseason finale, preparing for the arrival of the Spanish army.
While Manila and Denver escaped through the dumbwaiter, Tokyo chose to stay behind and fend off the soldiers by shooting at them.
She was shot herself, but before she died, it was revealed she had pulled the pins off four grenades that were attached to her chest.
The massive explosion killed both Tokyo and the soldiers she was trying to save her friends from.
Fans were left distraught by the end of series five’s fifth episode.
However, it’s not over quite yet, as there is still a second part to this final season.
The rest of season five is going to come out on Friday, December 3, on the streaming service.
Money Heist is available to watch on Netflix.
