Millionaire Charlotte Crosby used government money to furlough employee

MILLIONAIRE Charlotte Crosby used government money to furlough an employee, The Sun can reveal.

The 30-year-old star shot to fame in MTV series Geordie Shore back in 2011, and has an estimated net worth of £2.9 million.

Her company CLC Enterprise is number 133,944 on a list of 740,000 companies and individuals who claimed furlough in December.

Full details have been published on HMRC's website under ‘Transparency Data’ as ‘Employers who have claimed through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme ‘ – commonly known as furlough.

The furlough scheme is supporting millions of worker wages during the coronavirus crisis as the government pays employees up to 80% of wages for hours not worked.

Any UK organisation with employees can apply to furlough their workers – including charities and recruitment agencies.

The list does not reveal how much money Charlotte's company claimed, but The Sun understands it was for just one member of staff.

The reality TV favourite set the business up in 2013 with her dad Gary, who is co-director, and Companies House reports its nature as "media representation services" – with Charlotte's occupation listed as "entertainer".

The Sun have contacted Charlotte's rep for comment.

The most recent accounts for CLC Enterprise, which are for the year ending 30 September 2019, report just under £2 million in shareholder funds – including £1.1 million that she owes to her firm.

There were also two members of staff listed as employed, with a note in the accounts for turnover reading: "The company provides media representation services."

Charlotte has carved a lucrative career for herself over the past decade, using her Geordie Shore fame to appear on several other reality shows such as Celebrity Big Brother, Just Tattoo Of Us, and even I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia last year.

She also rakes in the cash through a number of brand deals as a social media influencer, most recently plugging a sex toy on her popular Instagram page.

The star recently finished renovations on her stunning £1 million Sunderland mansion, which she regularly shows off online.

The super chic makeover saw Charlotte install a bar and huge round bed in her stunning home.
