Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon has explained her decision behind leaving the popular soap.
The 24-year-old will be walking away from the cobbles after playing Bethany Platt for the past five years.
And it turns out she hopes to spread her wings on other small-screen projects and has already landed a number of auditions.
When appearing on This Morning, the actress spoke to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about her future plans.
She said: ‘Corrie was my first job, I haven’t done anything else, it got to the point where I’ve been there for five years and it was now or never.
‘I didn’t want to get to a point where I was wishing I’d tried more things, it might not work out but at least I tried.’
However, despite moving on from Weatherfield, it seems the doors have been left wide open if she ever wanted to return.
‘It could have been anything,’ she laughed when talking about her exit plot: ‘And I was okay with that, it was my decision to leave, but I am glad she hasn’t been hit by a crane.’
Turning her attention to her final episode the star spoke about how Bethany will be moving to London after landing an internship at a magazine.
‘I think [Bethany] is going to miss everyone,’ Lucy said: ‘She loves the Platts, she wants to stay with them and she has this thing with Daniel.
‘In the back of her mind, she knows Daniel is not over Sinead and he’s still grieving, so she has the opportunity and she has to go and do it!’
Daniel ends up proposing to Bethany just hours before her journey to the big smoke, with Lucy teasing: ‘Daniel is not over Sinead.
‘He’s found that Bethany fills that void Sinead left, and after all it’s just a sad storyline and Bethany has fallen in love with Daniel.
‘I think they are good for each other, I think Daniel has helped Bethany – and has led the way for her to get this internship.
‘But we don’t know if Bethany will say yes or no and we don’t know if she will leave on her own or go with Daniel.’
Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV, while This Morning airs weekdays at 10am.
