I was on I’m A Celebrity and I faced my worst fear in isolation before show even started, says Vernon Kay | The Sun

TV presenter Vernon Kay opened up about facing his worst fears before even entering the jungle.

The star, 48, competed on the show in 2020 and came in third place, when the I'm A Celebrity jungle was swapped for Gwrych Castle in Wales, due to the Covid pandemic.

Chatting on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, currently hosted by Toby Tarrant who is sitting in for Chris Moyles whilst he’s in the I'm A Celeb jungle, Vernon shared his best advice for Chris.

He opened up about coming face to face with his worst fears during his isolation prior to the start of the show.

Vernon said: “You are so apprehensive because even though you sign up to I’m A Celebrity.

"You know what's coming, you know the boys are gonna take the mickey out of you, you know you're gonna get covered in garbage.

"I think the one thing that teases you the most, that gets into your stomach, that gets into your brain is ‘how am I going to make friends really, really quickly?’

"You don't want to go all in and be that guy in the corner who's like ‘Hi everyone! Look at me! I’m amazing!!’

"You’ve gotta get the balance right and I think that balance is just stay quiet for the first three days.”

Toby explained on the show that he and his co-hosts hadn't spoken to Chris since last Monday, when he embarked on his journey to the Jungle.

Vernon revealed that although viewers won't see the first episode till Sunday, contestants start filming on the Friday.

The TV personality went on to say that his isolation period had mostly been a positive one, staying in a "beautiful" farmhouse in Anglesey, Wales, where he enjoyed runs with his royal marines trained security guard and made use of his golf set in the farmer's field.

He said he hoped that Chris was having the "same [positive] experience" during his week long isolation prior to being "dragged out on Friday" when the show actually starts filming.

Vernon and the Radio X hosts also laughed about Chris' demands, comparing himself having a "full on gym" to Chris' meagre request for an exercise bike during his stay.
