Debbie Dingle actress Charley Webb has sensationally quit Emmerdale after nearly two decades on the show, it has been reported.

Her departure comes after husband Matthew Wolfenden became involved in a race controversy on the set of the soap opera back in September.

An insider has revealed that the row "fuelled her decision to step back".

A source told The Sun: "Charley is closing the door on Emmerdale for good and won’t be going back."

The 33-year-old had not been seen on-screen by viewers since the start of the year, when her character had an affair with Al.

Matthew, who plays David Metcalfe in the popular ITV soap, was meanwhile reportedly seen at the ITV studios last week.

Fans also spotted Matthew leaving the set at the Yorkshire Television studios in Leeds.

However, it is not known if he was filming scenes as his character David or whether he was there for another reason.
