EastEnders fans stunned as Kat Slater breaks off steamy affair with Phil Mitchell with brutal snub

EASTENDERS fans are left in shock as Kat Slater ends her steamy romance with Phil Mitchell.

The two iconic soap characters' short fling seems to have come to an end after a brutal snub by Kat at the end of tonight's episode.

Kat was struggling to come to terms with her ex Kush's impending prison sentence after attempted robbery.

Both Kat and Phil were also at the scene and while they managed to escape the clutches of the police, the cleaner is still feeling guilty.

The soap's resident hardman was having none of it and refused to take responsibility for what happened to Kush, who chose not to escape from the scene with the rest of the group.

After thinking about what Kat said, Phil met Kush in the pub and gave him advice on how to handle himself in prison.

Later, the pair had arranged to go for a meal but Kat didn't turn up, so Phil went to her house to find out why.

She answered: "You know the reason why I'm too scared to say that you're my boyfriend? Because deep down, I know we're not right for each other.

"I'm a Slater, and I'm gobby and I don't go by the rules, but I do know the difference between right and wrong, And I've got a conscience and I can't be with someone that doesn't."

A confused Phil starred at her and asked: "So that's it?", before Kat starred back and replied: "That's it", before slamming the door in Phil's face, who was not impressed.

Twitter viewers were surprised to see the fling between Phil and Kat end so soon.

One fan wrote: "Fancy Getting Dumped By Kat Slater."

A second penned: "@bbceastenders is this the end for Kat and Phil?#eastenders."

While a third added: "Can't say I'm sad that Kat and Phil broke up tbh #EastEnders."
