Disaster for soap fans! No Coronation Street and Emmerdale tonight again

The Coronation Street and Emmerdale drought is continuing tonight, we’re sad to report, as the World Cup qualifiers have knocked our soaps off ITV again.

Pesky football, am I right lads?

Last Friday also saw Corrie and Emmerdale pushed out of the schedules as England smashed Albania with a 5-0 victory.

The national team is expected to qualify for the World Cup officially this evening as they go up against San Marino.

Not that soap fans care, they just want their regular dose of Corrie and Emmerdale back.

Luckily, the shows are back with a vengeance on Tuesday November 12 with an hour long special of each airing from 7pm

However, that hasn’t stopped many voicing their frustration on Twitter.

Everything the football is on soaps get cancelled.
About time there’s a separate channel ITV?

NO SOAPS 😢Tonight & Monday they have taken Emmerdale & Coronation ST off & its Football all night🤬🤬I have saved Masterchef from last night as i am dammed if i am watching football not now or ever 🤬Always the soaps that suffer why didnt they put Football on ITV 2 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 pic.twitter.com/SQVccHwBaa

#Emmerdale hey @ITV you do know you’ve got other bloody channels u could’ve shown the soaps or football 🤨🙄😠

why can’t @ITV @BBCOne @Channel4 @channel5_tv invent New TV Channels to JUST put England Football, England Rugby, Premier League, England Cricket, The Champions League, Europa League, World Cup instead of interrupting the SOAPS … or better still put it all on @primevideouk

That, of course, won’t be happening any time soon.

ITV get huge revenue from airing key football matches and, given how key these games are, they are likely to rate just as high or higher than the soaps.

Soap fans won’t be missing out on any of the drama though as the same amount of episodes will still air, just in blocks of an hour to make up for the backlog.

And we can look forward to Christmas and New Year, where soaps generally have extra airings for festive specials – and it’s no different this year.

Storylines that we will see air this coming week include Noah Dingle (Jack Downham) making a big decision while Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu) lashes out in a big way over in the Dales.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street’s Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) heads into a terrifying situation after becoming homeless.
