Angela Black stars Downton Abbey actress Joanne Froggatt who has been the lead in various other shows since the period drama came to an end. From Dark Angel and Missing, to The Commons and Liar, Angela Black is the latest project for Froggatt which has received rave reviews. Sadly, the six-part series is almost over on ITV as the show has reached its climax.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Angela Black.
Angela Black (played by Joanne Froggatt) is seen to be living a blissful life with her volunteering job at a dog shelter, charming husband Olivier (Michiel Huisman) and their two sons.
But little does anyone know beyond those four walls that Angela is actually a victim of domestic abuse.
For years, she has suffered in silence with no obvious way of escaping their horrific marriage.
Everything is turned on its head when she is met with hit-man Ed (Samuel Adewunmi) who has some secrets of Olivier’s to tell.
Will there be another series of Angela Black?
As of writing this article, there has been no talk of a season two of Angela Black.
ITV has neither confirmed nor denied the future of the drama so it is still unknown whether it will continue.
Angela Black is a six-part mini-series which could indicate that this could be the show’s end for good.
But this wouldn’t be the first time a popular limited series got renewed for more episodes.
Froggatt also starred in Liar in 2017, where her character Laura Nielson accused surgeon Andrew Earlham of rape.
The plot of the six-part show rounded off nicely but as it continued to receive rave reviews, Liar was given a second series, three years later.
So, dependent on the ending and viewers’ reaction, there is a chance Angela Black could return.

Froggatt opened up to the press about the importance of working on shows with real-life themes such as domestic abuse.
She said: “The added positive to doing a show like this, that does have a very sensitive subject matter running underneath it, is to hopefully open up conversations within households about domestic abuse and what does constitute acceptable and not acceptable behaviour.
“It would be amazing if somebody out there kind of said, ‘Okay, that this makes me feel less alone’.
“That would be, you know, an incredible thing.”
In the penultimate episode, Angela discovered Ed’s real name was Theo Walters.
He had been hired by Olivier to trick his wife and make her look mad as she investigated his “secrets”.
And in the finale, Angela came out on top as Olivier ended up in handcuffs and enemies from Theo’s past came back for revenge thanks to her.
Angela Black is available to watch on ITV Hub.
