Amanda Holden has been a regular on our screens for more than twenty years – but now it’s time for viewers to see her in a brand new light as her mockumentary show, The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle, debuts.
The E4 spoof series stars Amanda, aka Mandy, and her beloved but often outspoken northern ‘Nan’ Myrtle – who is played by a yet to be confirmed famous face – as they move in together for the first time.
However, while the Holden girls get off to a good start and we get an insight into their unique yet hilarious relationship, it’s not long before cracks begin to appear in their domestic set-up, as our exclusive, first-look clip shows.
When Myrtle arrives back at their home following a trip out in Amanda’s car, she begins to fill her showbiz granddaughter in on what she’s been up to.
After revealing Amanda is the talk of the town with the locals, Myrtle explains: “There’s some sort of clicking noise in the car I noticed on the way back.”
And it’s not long before the Britain’s Got Talent judge and mum-of-two discovers exactly what has happened – Myrtle has accidentally driven off from the petrol station with the pump attached to the vehicle.
Shocked at the sight of her car, Amanda, 50 exclaims: “Oh for f***’s sake! Oh my God!”
Then, after Myrtle heads out to see what the commotion is all about, Amanda fumes at her.
She abruptly asks: “Did you come home with this just trawling out of your car? What?!” as Myrtle mutters an apology for her “mistake.”
Whether the two make amends is yet to be seen, but Amanda is thrilled to be on our screens in the eight-part series, which has already been a hot topic with TV viewers as they attempt to work out the top-secret identity of Myrtle.
Amanda told The Sun: “I’m delighted that everyone is finally going to meet my nan, the apple never falls far from my tree and in this series she will certainly be keeping me on my toes.”
Meanwhile, Channel 4 has teased what’s to come in future episodes of the spoof, as tensions further rise between the duo, leaving Amanda with a big decision.
“A concerned Amanda persuades her lonely nan to relocate from Doncaster to live with her in her swanky London house.”
“Following a chaotic settling-in period, it isn’t long before tempers fray and Amanda is forced to choose between her husband and her awkward elder relative…”
