Danni Menzies was tasked with finding the dream holiday home in Spain’s Costa del Sol for avid golfer Peggy. The Channel 4 presenter had a tough job on her hands, but she was eventually able to find a property that ticked all of Peggy’s boxes. However, Danni found herself in a bidding war with the homeowner of Peggy’s “perfect” property.

When Danni met with Peggy and her mum the morning after the viewings, she was desperate to find out if they were going to put in any offers.

Danni said: “Tell me what conclusion you have come to?”

Peggy said she prefered the fourth property and “loved it from the moment she walked inside” and wanted to put in an offer.

A jubilant Danni replied: “Fantastic, news. The one thing we need to keep in mind is the reduction it’s had.

“Now that property is on the market for £126,000 and [the homeowner] has now said, because he is in a hurry, that he’ll consider £114,000.

“So tell me what you’re thinking on the offer.”

Peggy explained she wanted to put in an offer of £100,000 as she thought the home needed a lot of “work done”.

Peggy added: “I am feeling really nervous, I don’t know if you can hear my heart beating?”

Unfortunately, the offer was quickly rejected by the homeowner, so Peggy asked Danni to make a counteroffer for £108,000.

The counter-offer was also turned down which left Peggy looking downtrodden, but she wasn’t ready to give up on her dream home just yet.

She asked Danni if she could make another offer for £110,000 as her “last go” as it was the “maximum” she could stretch to.

Danni said Peggy was “so close” to securing the home, but the final offer was also rejected.

However, just a few hours later the owner had a change of heart and Peggy received a phone call agreeing to her offer of £110,000.

She answered the phone while she was at the airport awaiting her flight back home to the UK.

Danni said she was “thrilled” for Peggy following a rather tense negotiation process.

A Place In The Sun continues weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
