You can and should still buy Chris Evans’ ‘Knives Out’ sweater in 2020

Get your “Knives Out” and put your sweaters on, gentlemen. It’s Chris Evans season and we’re feeling cozy.

With the onset of winter weather, the time to don a cable-knit sweater is upon us, and who better to lead the charge than one of the “best Chrises”: Chris Evans.

Even though the film “Knives Out” premiered almost a full year ago in November 2019, one thing remains true to this day: Chris Evans looks fine in a sweater. Twitter blew up after seeing the film, and movie-goers and celebrities alike chimed in to confirm that sweaters are indeed a sexy closet staple.

“I was at the premiere last night and I’m pretty sure people clapped and cheered when that sweater came out,” actress Mara Wilson tweeted back in 2019.

More recently, Evans was caught wearing a bit less than a sweater. In September, the star uploaded a video that accidentally showed his penis to his 5.7 million followers. The internet did what it does best and soon, before Evans could remove the video, screenshots were taken and distributed faster than you can say, “Where’s your sweater now?”

Scott Evans chimed in, in a very brotherly way, to poke some fun, and both his “Avengers” co-star Mark Ruffalo and celebrity icon Chrissy Teigen left messages of support after the easy-to-make mistake.

But back to matters with more material, we can all agree that Chris Evans is sexy, even with all his clothes on. Not so coincidentally, other non-Chrises wanted in on the sweater trend, and soon the cream-colored knit was selling out of stores everywhere. With a whole year behind us to restock, companies like Blarney Woollen Mills are still sold out of the Blasket Honeycomb Stitch Aran Sweater, which rose 150% in sales after the movie was released.

While you can’t yet get that one, we skimmed through all of Evans’ wild woolen scenes and picked out the best dupes to don this winter and continue the fab fad through to 2021.

Blarney Woollen Mills Jamie crewneck Aran sweater, $87

This one is 99.9% exact, so only die-hard “Knives Out” fans will call you out. In a slightly different pattern than the sold-out honeycomb stitch, the Jamie crew neck style comes in the classic cream color and is made of 100% Merino wool.

L.L.Bean Irish fisherman’s crewneck sweater, $179

This was another best seller back in 2019 and, to our excitement, it is still in stock. The sweater comes in cream and also in gray, should you want two cozy crewnecks.

“Inspired by the traditional sweaters worn as a defense against the bone-chilling conditions at sea, our heavyweight cardigan is made in Ireland with premium wool for outstanding warmth,” reads the product description.

L.L.Bean signature cotton fisherman sweater, $99

Another style from L.L.Bean, this crewneck has a slightly different knit but all the same sex appeal. Although not made in Ireland, this one is made of 100% cotton and is sure to keep you nice and warm come winter.

“Our favorite part of this Irish-inspired fisherman’s sweater is the authentic stitchwork — it gives it rich texture and a timeless look. We also love how the all-cotton construction easily spans the seasons and layers comfortably,” reads the site.

Thom Browne Aran cable-knit sweater, $790

Look like Chris but with your own added flair in this cable-knit sweater with four gray stripes on the sleeve.

The high-end sweater sold at Saks Fifth Avenue is made of Merino wool and comes in both cream and black. It can be purchased either in-store or on the Saks website.

ASOS heavyweight cable-knit crewneck, $56

This more affordable version of the one on the big screen comes in the perfect shade of cream, called oatmeal on the ASOS site. It is a blend of both acrylic and wool and, with free shipping and returns, it’s a great time to try some new sweaters on for size.

Amazon Essentials cotton fisherman cable sweater, $29.60

When in doubt, turn to Amazon.

From their Amazon Essentials collection, this fisherman cable-knit sweater is another budget-friendly option for any Evans wannabes out there. It is made from 100% cotton and fits true-to-size for most.

“Beautiful, well made, great fit. It looks similar to other sweaters I’ve shopped for that were four times as expensive. Will update on the wear and tear but impressed with it for now!” reads a review on the site.

Goodthreads cable-knit crewneck, $30

Another Amazon brand, this Goodthreads sweater is a nylon-acrylic blend for those who want to steer clear of wool. The breathable fabric is great for layering or for wearing on its own to show off the cable pattern. Only select sizes are still in stock, so act fast.
