AMI Alexandre Mattiussi‘s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show was quite the occasion. Staged at Sacré Cœur Basilica, the monumental presentation overlooked Paris, the city to which the entire show and collection were in dedication. Now, AMI strips things back to the fundamentals of fashion and photography to spotlight its SS23 collection in its own Michael Bailey-Gates-shot campaign.
Gates and AMI’s relationship is five campaigns strong, having worked together for years to create honest, humble depictions of AMI’s beautifully minimalistic collections. The same approach has been taken for SS23, seeing the likes of Teen Wolf actor Dylan O’Brien and ’90s supermodel Kristen McMenamy front the campaign alongside House favorites who are captured with candor.
Here, the models are the photographer’s subjects. The campaign is intimate, quiet, peaceful, and doesn’t rely on bold props or colors to draw an impact. Instead, the glares and clothes speak for themselves — O’Brien’s ribbed, striped navy-and-white tank is perfectly Parisian, while a long sleeve polo also in the nautical color scheme is updated with navy sequins, adding a sparkle that rivals the Eiffel Tower at night.
Fittingly, suits, jackets, dresses and sheer tops come together for ensembles made for dancing the night away under the Parisian lights. Take a look at the campaign above, and shop the SS23 collection online and in stores now.
In other news, Acne Studios got mystical for FW23.
