Supermarket shoppers baffled as Easter eggs are already being sold at Morrisons

Christmas is barely over and done with and we're already on to the next occasion – or at least that's what it feels like!

Morrisons has already started stocking treats for Easter-time according to their shoppers, with many spotting shelves full of chocolate treats.

Given that it's still late December, this could be seen as a TAD premature, but we're not unhappy about the abundance of chocolate on offer either.

A huge selection, ranging from Cadbury's Creme Eggs to full-blown Malteser Eggs are available in store now.

Other stores have also started stocking the shelves, with Tesco, Spar and Co-op all baffling fans with their decision to start selling the treats so early.

However, they aren't available to buy online just yet.

Other regular shoppers have reported they've seen some items at Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer stores too.

In 2021, Easter Sunday will fall on April 4, which seems a long way away.

All over Twitter, the stores are being made fun of for prematurely stocking Easter-themed treats in December.

One funny user Tweeted: “Yes folks Happy Easter two days out from Christmas", with another stating they were "surprised" to see them up already.

Another shared an image they'd snapped of the chocolates in her local Tesco store, writing: "Just been down to my local @Tesco with my business partner (socially distanced of course), and I’m so surprised to see #Easter Eggs in store. Anything to look forward to next year I suppose! Great effort."

Shoppers continued to poke fun, with another joking: "So glad that Morrison’s are selling #Christmas #eggs and Bunnies nothing says Christmas more than an egg merry Easter everyone."

Kristine Bradford shared a snap in the popular bargain hunting Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, revealing full shelves of Easter treats at an Exeter Morrisons branch.

If you fancy snapping up some of the eggs on offer, you can grab some tasty Creme Eggs from 60p, and some Mini Eggs from £1 for a pack.

Usually, Supermarkets start stocking these items at the start of the year, but it looks like a number of chains have started to offer it out early.

Speaking to The Sun, a Tesco representative said: "It’s a few weeks until customers are able to choose from our full range of Easter products.

"However, we know some of our customers like to buy their eggs early so we have started selling a small selection in some of our stores.”
