Prince Harry arranged for flowers to be laid at his late mother Princess Diana’s grave on UK Mother’s Day.
The heartfelt gesture was tweeted by royal reporter Amid Scobie, who co-authored the book “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of a Modern Royal Family.”
“A spokesperson for Prince Harry says that he arranged for flowers to be laid at the grave of Princess Diana on the Spencer family estate in Althorp, Northamptonshire for #MothersDay in the UK today,” Scobie tweeted Sunday.
The Princess of Wales, who died in 1997 when her younger son was only 12, was laid to rest on an island in the center of a lake the Althorp estate — which is owned by the Spencer family — in Northamptonshire, England.
“I have what my mum left me and without that, we wouldn’t have been able to do this,” he said of the couple’s move to the United States and their lavish mansion in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Last week, Harry, 36, revealed to Oprah Winfrey that he and his wife, Meghan Markle, had been financially cut off by his family when they decided to bow out of royal life last year and were only able to survive due to the multimillion-dollar inheritance left to him by his mother.
“It’s like she saw it coming and she’s been with us through this whole process,” he added, noting “the Netflixes and Spotifys of it all was never part of the plan.”
Harry’s older brother, Prince William, honored UK Mother’s Day by posting photos of the cards his three children made for “Granny Diana.”
Young Princess Charlotte’s card poignantly noted that “papa is missing you.”
