Newcastle defender Paul Dummett is set to follow Fabian Schar's lead and sign a new deal at the club.
Schar ended speculation over a potential free transfer exit away from St James' Park by signing a new two-year deal on Tyneside on Friday.
Toon boss Eddie Howe spoke about how keen he was for academy product Dummett to agree a new deal.
And the signs are the 30-year-old will put pen to paper in the coming weeks.
Dummett has been plagued by injuries this season, restricting him to just three Premier League appearances, but Howe believes he still has plenty to offer and is set to tie down the left-back to a new deal at the club.
Newcastle are also in talks with another academy product, Sean Longstaff.

Howe said: “We've been talking with him and representatives for a while and we hope that we can reach a successful conclusion there.
“With Paul Dummett, we're keen for him to stay. Fingers crossed we can find a positive resolution."
Dummett last signed a deal for the club in February 2018.
Former boss Rafa Benitez had locked him down on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Speaking at the time, Benitez said: "If you talk about players that are important for the team, normally people talk about goalscorers, midfielders, No.10s but in modern football, there are not too many consistent left-sided full-backs.
"Paul is exactly that, he understands the game and you know what you can expect from him, week in, week out.
"That's important when you have a lot of big games. He's a player you can trust."
Dummett has been at the club since the age of nine, and made his senior debut back in 2013.
