Bringing children on a shopping trip is not always enjoyable, even less so when they have to try on school shoes for their impending return to school.

But one mum tired of taking her kids out and in an attempt to save hours of tantrums and grumpy stomping from each shop, she stumbled on a clever hack that will solve all parents problems.

Instead of taking her kids with her she simply measured their feet and drew a template on cardboard to make sure the chosen shoes were the right size.

Taking to an Australian Facebook parenting group, the mum wanted to avoid the drama of shoe shopping by taking the cardboard cut outs of her children's feet.

"When your kids have had a growth spurt and need new shoes but you don't want to take them into the shops just yet," she wrote alongside the picture.

In the snap she held up two outlines of a foot with black marker around the edges. Making things even easier, the mum cut out the templates from the cardboard so they would fit in her purse and save her any stress.

According to the Sun, group members were equally thrilled with the genius tip taking to the comment section: "Not alone there. I always do it as I can't be [bothered] taking my six kids to get new shoes as they'll want other things too."

"My mum used to do this to us using Manila folders, I thought she was nuts," added another.

A third said: "I did this when I had to buy shoes for three boys who weren't easy to take shopping."

It follows another shoe hack to help them stop rubbing, especially when you might be stepping back into your high heels months after lockdown began.

The first technique is to spray the inside of the heels with dry shampoo, sounds odd but it works. The dry shampoo prevents your feet from slipping so that the shoes don’t rub as it reduces the friction that is normally the cause of the blisters and pain.

You can also use hairspray to stop your feet from slipping out of your heels if you find they’re slightly too big.

And if your soles are too slippy because they're new then score them with nail file to roughen them up and create more grip.

Thirdly simply pop a small pot of Vaseline into your handbag and apply to the areas that rub such as the heel or across the toes, this should stop the friction and avoid blisters or pain.
