Megan McKenna famously denounced her love for lip fillers back in 2019, after reading nasty comments about her “trout pout” following a singing gig in Nashville.
Now she’s just given her Instagram followers a glimpse at just what she looked like before she had any fillers, with an epic flashback snap to her teen years.
Megan shared the throwback to her Instagram Stories, tagging her siblings in the sweet family photo. The star, now 28, can be seen looking very bronzed, with flowing brunette hair. Her lips also appear much smaller in size compared to how they’ve looked in recent years.
Although these days Megan has backed off the fillers, fans will probably still think of the star with quite a defined lip look, as it became something of a signature for her when she was a main TOWIE cast member in 2017.
The country singer has previously spoken about her body dysmorphia, after becoming obsessed with the size of her pout. Megan has also admitted to previously using photo editing apps to make her lips look even bigger in images.
"I would be going onto editing apps, still not happy, thinking I could make them look a bit bigger here and there. I did have body dysmorphia,” she said in a Loose Women interview.
The star decided to ditch the lip filler before appearing on The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019, as she didn’t want the focus on her pout to detract from her singing abilities. Megan ultimately went on to win, so she clearly did something right.
Since 2019, a host of other celebrities have decided to ditch the fillers for themselves, opting instead for more natural looks.
Love Island’s Molly-Mae Hague, for example, famously reversed her fillers back in 2020, admitting that getting her lips plumped was “one of her biggest regrets”.
Gemma Collins also recently threw in the lip filler towel, after becoming frustrated with the fact that celebs these days "all look the same".
We wonder, have pout-plumping injections really had their day?
