Sophia Di Martino’s “Loki” costume may have been made to mirror Tom Hiddleston’s eponymous villain, but there’s more than meets the eye to her version of the look.
The British actress, 37, who plays the Loki “variant” Sylvie on the Disney+ series, shared a behind-the-scenes picture of her costume’s unique, new-mom modification with fans.
“It’s not easy being a working Mama (Understatement!),” she wrote next to the pic, which shows how her costume strategically unzips along her torso.
The “Yesterday” star, who was cast in “Loki” in November 2019 — around the same time she gave birth to her first child with her partner, actor and writer Will Sharp — thanked costume designer Christine Wada for adding concealed zippers to her outfit, making it easier for her to nurse her baby between takes.
“It’s little (big) things like this that made it possible for me to do my job AND be a parent,” Di Martino, 37, wrote. “I’m forever grateful 💖”
“Loki” director Kate Herron was also quick to show support for the working mom, leaving two heart emoji under her post.
Di Martino auditioned for the role of Sylvie while still pregnant and began filming the series in early 2020.
“I literally just did one audition tape for this,” she told The Hollywood Reporter last week. “I didn’t really have an in-person audition; we didn’t do any screen tests.”
“It was the shortest casting experience I think I’ve ever had,” Martino elaborated to Variety, explaining to the trade that she landed the role “on the back of this tape, which never happens, and especially with a job like this!”
