Inter Milan star Bastoni appears to SLAP Juventus ace Weston McKennie in face in box but avoids punishment

INTER MILAN star Alessandro Bastoni appears to have gotten away with one.

The defender has been accused of SLAPPING Juventus ace Weston McKennie during his side’s dramatic Italian Super Cup victory on Wednesday.

Replays appeared to show Bastoni catching the Juve winger in the face as a cross was swung into the box.

Inter keeper Samir Handanovic safely gathered the ball but McKennie could be seen falling to the floor near the penalty spot.

Italy international Bastoni seems to have had his eyes on the ball but his errant arm had fans claiming the contact was deliberate.

But referee Daniele Doveri saw nothing wrong at the time and waved play on at the San Siro.

Inter went on to snatch a late 2-1 victory to be crowned Italian Super Cup winners.

It marked their first victory in the competition for 11 years against the side who have won the trophy more times than anyone else.

Alexis Sanchez sealed the win in extra-time when he prodded home from close range – just as the match looked as though it was heading to penalties.

McKennie headed the Turin club ahead on 25 minutes but their joy wasn’t to last long.

Lautaro Martinez equalised from the penalty spot just ten minutes later in a breathless first half.

But the game became a more cagey affair after the break as the Serie A giants edged towards extra-time.

With the scores still level at 1-1, Sanchez pounced on an Alex Sandro howler to hire home and send the home fans into a frenzy.
