While the cast of Call the Midwife is known for the babies they deliver in character, their off-screen family links are less discussed.

However, the majority of the cast have married and become proud parents since they first joined the cast.

Plus, some of the actors from the hit series are parents to other famous actors you’ll probably recognise from the world of TV and film.

Helen George

Helen George has starred in the show since it started and found love with costar Jack Ashton, who plays Tom Hereward, in 2016.

They welcomed their first child in September 2017 and named her Wren Ivy.

The couple is currently expecting their second baby due in December.

Jenny Agutter

Jenny Agutter has been playing Sister Julienne for almost eight years.

In real life, she is married to Johan Tham, a Swedish hotelier, and the couple share one son, Jonathan Tham, born on Christmas day 1990.

Jessica Raine

Jessica Raine played nurse Jenny Lee in Call the Midwife since the series started until 2014 when she left to star in The Woman In Black.

In 2010, she met fellow actor Tom Goodman-Hill who she married in 2015 following his separation from his wife of 20 years.

In 2019, they welcomed their first son whose name they have chosen to keep private.

Vanessa Redgrave

Vanessa Redgrave has narrated Call The Midwife since 2012 and off screen has had three children.

She had daughters Natasha Richardson and Joely Richardson with her first husband, filmmaker, Tony Richardson.

Vanessa is also mum to a son, Carlo Gabriel Redgrave Sparanero with Italian actor, Franco Nero.

Tragically, Natasha, who was married to Liam Neeson, died in a skiing accident in 2009.

Fenella Woolgar

Fenella Woolgar has played Sister Hilda in Call The Midwife since 2018.

She is mum to three sons Kit, 13, and twins Gabriel and Tristan, 12.

“They bring so much joy and remind me of how quickly time passes,” she has previously said in an interview about motherhood.

Judy Parfitt

Judy Parfitt has played Sister Monica Joan since the show started in 2012.

Off-screen she is Mum to one grown-up son, David, who she welcomed with her late husband Tony Steedman who passed away in 2001.
