I have never bitten into an apple or any hard fruit, and my top teeth crunch against my bottom teeth and I think they are wearing away.
My parents were big drinkers so weren’t very good at taking me or my brother to the dentist.

DEIDRE SAYS: To find out what dentistry you are entitled to, find an NHS dentist. Call 0300 311 2233 to find a local dentist doing NHS work.
As you’re on a low income, for help with payments you can fill in an HC1 form, which you can find via nhsbsa.nhs.uk/nhs-low-income-scheme.
You will never pay more than £282.80 for any treatment to be “dental fit”, so I hope you can find a sympathetic dentist who can help improve your confidence.
