Bindi Irwin shares ‘special’ way she’ll introduce her baby to late dad Steve

Bindi Irwin and the rest of the Irwin family remain determined to honour their dad, the legendary Australian wildlife documentarian Steve Irwin, and his legacy.

The 22-year-old daughter of The Crocodile Hunter is now pregnant with her first child with husband Chandler Powell, which has given her a lot of time to reflect on her own relationship with her dad and how she could introduce him to her new baby.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the star revealed that not only would Steve have been a fantastic grandfather, but she’s convinced he would have poached her daughter and the pair would become inseparable.

Bindi has now decided that the perfect way for the two to “meet” is to show the tot her dad’s gigantic library of documentaries.

He fronted the TV series The Crocodile Hunter for 11 years alongside his wife Terri Irwin, also going on to host Croc Files, The Crocodile Hunter Diaries and New Breed Vets.

“I don’t think we would’ve ever seen our daughter,” she said. “He would’ve just whisked her away into the zoo and it would’ve been perfect.

“But it is so nice that we’ll be able to introduce her to her grandfather through all of the documentaries.

“It’s really special,” the mum-to-be added.

Bindi’s mum Terri echoed her sentiment and was certain the environmental superstar would have been “over the moon” to welcome his first granddaughter into his world and that of the animal kingdom.

Meanwhile, Bindi’s brother Robert Irwin, who is also a conservationist, agreed with the two women that his dad would have been thrilled and “insanely excited” to welcome a “wildlife warrior” to the family.

The 17-year-old said he thought it’s “special” the whole family have the opportunity to remember and honour the wildlife legend in everything they do now.

Robert also noted how important it was not to lose their dad’s “legacy", and that Steve would think the latest addition to the family is “amazing”.

As Bindi prepares for her new arrival, the Australian star has regularly been sharing pregnancy updates with her 4million followers.

In one particularly special post, Australia Wildlife worker shared an image of her husband Chandler kissing her baby bump, which is a callback to a similar photo created by her mum and dad before her brother Robert was born.

“Recreating a very special moment,” she said alongside it. “Third trimester love.”

Bindi is due in the next couple of months.
