As award season begins, we usually see celebrities and Hollywood actors flock to the red carpets to sport their best looks in hopes of landing themselves on the best dressed list.
This year's season began last night, Sunday 9 January, as the 79th Golden Globes took place – but sadly, we didn't get to see any of our favourite stars due to a boycott of the ceremony.
This decision was made by many after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association – who organise the event and decide the winners – came under fire with criticism over a lack diversity and allegations of improper voting.
Not only was there no red carpet, but there was also no televised ceremony either, meaning the awards were announced via social media.

This also meant we saw no celebrities in gorgeous outfits.
So in light of this, take a trip down memory lane and revisit some of the best Golden Globe red carpet moments…
We had to start off with this incredible moment from the 2021 Golden Globes, from none other than Viola Davis.
Putting African-inspired representation front and centre, the talented actress wowed in a multicoloured mermaid style gown by designer LaviebyCK.
Not only are we huge fans of the print but we love how the silhouette perfectly shows off Viola's gorgeous figure.
In the same year, Anya Taylor-Joy, who is best known for her role in the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit, took home the award for Best Actress in a Television Motion Picture.
The 25-year-old couldn't attend the event due to Covid restrictions but still made sure to floor us all in an emerald green Dior gown.
From the deep plunging neckline to the incredible oversized cape, this is a true lesson in how to take home the best dressed crown.
Back in 2019, Lady Gaga wowed us all as she swapped her usual rockstar aesthetic to be the belle of the ball in a phenomenal pale blue gown by Valentino Couture.
Nominated for her role in A Star Is Born, the singer wowed in an off-the-shoulder puff sleeved dress which packed a bit of drama with a gigantic train.
Many said that the dress was reminiscent of that which Judy Garland wore in the 1954 version of the movie of the same title.
Crazy Rich Asian's star Gemma Chan made sure to capture everyone's attention at the 2019 ceremony by sporting a fantastic blue ensemble also by Valentino Couture.
Sporting a sleek back hairstyle, the actress shocked us in a pair of shorts which was of course paired with a voluminous matching skirt.
This was a moment we knew that the 39-year-old would be one to watch.
Billy Porter is someone who never skips extravagance.
In 2019, the Pose actor lit the red carpet on fire in a heavily embellished floral jewelled Randi Rahm suit.
But this being Billy, of course there was drama, with a long matching cape lined with bright fuchsia silk.
Sarah Jessica Parker
Making her return to the Golden Globes red carpet after 10 years in 2017, Sarah Jessica Parker made sure to give a lesson in how to dress for awards season.
Proving that she still knew how to command our attention, the Sex and the City actress wowed in a white Vera Wang gown with came with long sleeve and chic shoulder cut outs.
As if that wasn't enough, the dress even came with pockets — fabulous.
Emma Stone pulled off a similar ensemble back in 2015 when she made the decision to swap gowns for a very chic Lanvin jumpsuit.
Combining a crystal embellished bodice with a pair of black tailored satin trousers, a touch of drama was added with the use of a floor length belt.
Emma accessorised with hardly any jewellery so that the outfit could speak for itself — and that it did.
An outfit that will go down the red carpet history is this fabulous look from actress Lupita Nyong'o.
At the 2014 ceremony, Lupita showed how a simple dress can still ooze glamour.
The actress took our breaths away in an off-the-shoulder Ralph Lauren gown which came with it's very own superhero-style cape.
In 2013 Jennifer Lopez sported her signature sheer style in a delicate white lace dress by designer Zuhair Murad.
Highlighting her gorgeous silhouette, the singer oozed Hollywood glamour by sweeping her mermaid waves over her right shoulder.
Even though the dress wasn't packed with drama, it still had J.Lo's golden touch.
A natural at pulling off incredible red carpet looks is none other than Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
In 2012, the brunette sported a structured soft pink silk gown by Atelier Versace which perfectly draped off her figure.
The outfit was accessorised immaculately with a red clutch bag to coordinate with the contrasting red neckline at the top of the dress.
Another who is no stranger to award season is the beautiful Julia Roberts who in 1990 stole the crown for a rather different outfit.
The Pretty Woman actress turned the dress code on it's head as she wowed in a Giorgio Armani suit.
Now this is how you make a statement on the red carpet.
