Piers Morgan, 56, has slammed the Prime Minister’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic as he re-introduced some restrictions this evening. Boris Johnson, 57, extended the mandatory face mask requirement and encouraged people to work from home where possible, as part of his Plan B.

As expected, his announcement has sparked a frenzy online.

Piers shared his thoughts on the matter and also took a swipe at an alleged Christmas party which reportedly took place in December 2020.

He tweeted: “‘Work from home but go to Christmas parties!’

“If any single policy perfectly exemplifies Boris Johnson’s disastrous handling of the covid pandemic, this is surely it? Utter nonsense.”

The former Good Morning Britain host went on to share a picture of himself pouring Boris a drink in an unearthed snap.

He wrote: “Throwback to my last pandemic business meeting at No10.”

According to sources, a party took place in Downing Street with around 40 people in attendance.

At the time, Tier 3 had come into force in London, meaning gatherings were not allowed.

Boris has not denied that a party took place but told MPs “all guidance was followed”.

In response to a report that police will not be investigating into the alleged breach of rules, Piers added: “Of course. Establishment protecting the establishment.”

Chef Tom Kerridge seemingly agreed with Piers, as he commented: “I’m lost, hospitality is lost.

“It’s just ridiculous. This can’t be science.”

Ambridge Brewery wrote: “I absolutely give up. It’s taken us 3 years to even start to see regular orders now we have the threat of orders now being cancelled.”

Jay commented: “And wear a mask in the theatre. But not in a nightclub. Go to school.

“Host your nativity play. But limit your social contacts. Clear?”

As part of Plan B, face masks will be extended to most indoor settings in England.

Vaccine passports will also be required to enter large events.

The Government and scientists have continuously encouraged Brits to get the vaccines as well as the booster jab for the best protection.

It comes after a significant rise in the Omicron variant across the UK.

He added: “Given the potential numbers that omicron might produce we just have to respond today in the way that we are.”
