Nadia Sawalha has said one reason behind her hot and cold relationship with her sister is men. She once said: “We’ve had some rocky times, but the culprit has always been men.”
Their relationship soured in 2002 when Nadia called Julia’s then boyfriend comic Alan Davies a ‘miserable git’ after he complained about images of him from Nadia’s wedding that where featured in OK! magazine.
The sisters did not speak for almost two years following the comments.
They patched things up after Julia and Davies split in 2004.
But since then, the relationship has remained fractious and the two clearly do not see eye to eye.

“They’re so for-and-against it’s hard to have one rule for it.”
Following Nadia’s personal admission of her family relationships Julia took to twitter where she called Nadia out for publicly disclosing their ‘stormy’ relationship.

The ‘stormy’ relationship between the sisters is said to from the rivalry their father Nadim enforced with his desire to have ‘strong independent’ daughters.
Growing up in Croydon, the sisters lived with both their father Nadim and mother Roberta.
After the birth of Julia, Roberta suffered postnatal depression where she later sent Nadia to her grandmothers which Nadia says contributed to their deep pitted rivalry.
Nadia said: “When my mum had Julia, I was so excited I kept wanting to pick her up and cuddle her. My mum, who was a bit postnatal, got scared and sent me to her mother’s.”
When discussing her relationship with her sister on Loose Women, Nadia said: “We’ve always had periods in our life where we don’t speak.
“I always say I have the best time or the worst time of my life with her. It’s the same with both my sisters”
Nadia will be appearing on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip alongside colleague Faya Adams.
