It's been quite a year for celebrities and many of A-list couples have come out looking stronger than ever relationship-wise, with Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury proving that love still exists outside of the villa as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriquez announcing they are expanding their brood.
However, on the other side, there have been plenty of break-ups making the headlines in 2021, including Love Island's Kaz Kamwi and Tyler Cruickshank and Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman.
As we look back on this year, delve deep into the top fairytale romances and bitter break-ups of 2021…
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
They were the ultimate power couple, whose relationship seemed destined to last. But six years of marriage, four kids and one disastrous presidential bid later, #Kimye decided to call it quits in February.
A sad day indeed – not just for the couple and their family, but for their fans, who have relished their headline-grabbing antics. However, things seem to be amicable between the couple, who have been spotted out together numerous times since ending things.
Kim, 41, appeared to confirm this when she said in an interview, “I will forever be Kanye’s biggest fan. He’s the father of my kids, Kanye will always be family.”
Megan Barton-Hanson and James Lock
Former Love Island star Megan was first pictured with James in September, when they were spotted kissing outside a swanky Mayfair restaurant.
And in October, they confirmed their romance by going Instagram official, with Megan, 27, sharing snaps of her date night with James, 35, at Aspera Restaurant in Essex. James also gushed about his new girlfriend, saying, “It’s going really well. We’re taking it slow.”
Megan previously dated James’ TOWIE co-star Demi Sims, and was also linked to his BFF Pete Wicks, but it seems she may have finally found happiness with James, who she met while filming Ex On The Beach earlier this year.
Rylan and Dan Clark-Neal
Although his career continues to thrive, it’s been a tough year for Rylan personally, following his break-up from husband of five years Dan in June.
After admitting he was not in a good place and was seeking help, he took a five-month career break. The reason for the split is unknown, although Rylan, 33, admitted, “I have made a number of mistakes which I deeply regret and have inevitably led to the breakdown of our marriage.”
Sending love to you both!
Jessica Plummer and Ben Hardy
Former EastEnders stars Jess and Ben have reunited off-screen on a night out in London, confirming their new romance with a steamy kiss.
The pair previously sparked romance rumours in the summer when they starred in the new BBC drama The Girl together.
Moments before Jessica, 28, jumped into a taxi, Ben, 30, looked loved-up as he had his arms wrapped around the I’m A Celebrity star’s waist when they embraced each other and kissed in the street.
Ooh, la la!
AJ Odudu and Kai Widdrington – maybe!
Following some steamy performances on this year’s Strictly, speculation has been rife that there’s more than just a close friendship between the TV presenter and newbie pro dancer, Kai, 26.
Neither have specifically addressed the rumours, although AJ, 33, said in November, “I’m having the best time. We’re having a ball together. We get on like a house on fire.”
Laura Anderson and Dane Bowers
On-again, off-again couple Laura and Dane appear to be firmly back on. Love Island star Laura, 32, dumped the 42-year-old Another Level singer three years ago after she discovered he’d cheated.
However, in April they rekindled their romance and moved in together in a swanky new pad in Dubai. And in an exclusive shoot confirming they’re back together for good this time, they told new they are already contemplating marriage and children.
“Babies are an imminent conversation,” Dane said.

In June, former Great British Bake Off presenter Sue split from her Naked Attraction girlfriend Anna after seven years together. The couple were both said to be "devastated" by the break-up, which was reportedly over a disagreement about when to have children.
Anna, 51, hoped to adopt, while Sue, 52, felt the timing was wrong due to work commitments. The pair began dating after meeting at a Halloween party in 2013, following Anna's split from her partner of 18 years, Charles Martin.
Phoebe Dynevor and Pete Davidson
Long-distance dating is always a challenge, and for Bridgerton star Phoebe and her comedian boyfriend Pete, a transatlantic romance apparently proved too difficult.
They broke up in August after five months together, when their busy work schedules and the pandemic prevented them jetting off to see each other.
Phoebe, 26, had back-to-back filming dates with Bridgerton in the UK, while Pete, 28, was back in the US filming Saturday Night Live. “It was wild while it lasted and they both really care for each other,” a source revealed. “But the distance put a strain on them.”
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik
Gigi and Zayn are over… again. The supermodel and One Direction star got together in 2015, but split in 2018, before reuniting in January 2020.
A few months later, Gigi, 26, confirmed she was pregnant with their first child, and their baby girl, Khai, was born last autumn.
But things turned ugly in October this year, when Zayn, 28, was charged with harassment after allegations he verbally attacked Gigi and “struck” her mother Yolanda.
After pleading no contest, he’s been ordered to complete an anger management class and a domestic violence program.
