Katie McGlynn is one of the celebrities heading to the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor this month. However, the Coronation Street star has had a minor setback after she suffered a painful injury when promoting the show.
The star was shooting some promotional social media footage when the incident happened.
It is thought Katie kicked a Glitterball when she was filming for the new series.
A BBC spokeswoman confirmed the news in a statement.
They said: “During filming promotional content for Strictly, Katie accidentally sustained a small cut to her foot as a result of kicking a prop.
“The injury is minimal, doesn’t require any further attention and she is completely fine,” they added to MailOnline.
They also added how she was treated by the on-site medic who applied a plaster.
The Sun reported Katie had suffered the injury when she kicked the iconic Glitterball trophy.
She is claimed to not have realised she was supposed to only pretend to kick it.
As a result, the trophy smashed and left her with a cut on her foot.
A show insider said to the publication: “After giving it a brief run-up, she pelted the ball and was left in severe pain.
“There was glass everywhere and everyone was left in shock at what happened.”
The incident took place on Friday but Katie hasn’t offered an update on how she’s doing yet.
The 28-year-old star is well known for playing Sinead Tinker in Coronation Street.
She starred in the show from 2013 until 2020 before she exited with a very sad storyline.
Fans of the soap will remember Sinead was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.
As well as her time on the Cobbles, the actor is also known for her roles as Jodie Allen in Waterloo Road and Becky Quentin in Hollyoaks.
Katie is set to swap the small screen for sequins when the show launches later this month.
She’s been keeping her Instagram fans updated about her excitement ahead of the series beginning.
On Friday she posted a snap at the Strictly studios.
She penned: “Just a casual selfie in THE Tess Daly’s dressing room. Day 2 on @bbcstrictly.”
She also posted back in August when it was announced she was joining Strictly.
Sharing the news with her 314,000 followers, she penned: “Pass me those sequins @bbcstrictly.
“I AM SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS!! But as long as I don’t fall over mid-routine I’ll be quite happy!
“And what a line up we have already… cannot wait to meet everyone and start this crazy journey with my new Strictly fam.(sic)
“Let me know which dance you want to see me try my hand at the most…”
Strictly Come Dancing begins with a launch show on September 18 on BBC One.
