Hidden sign may have predicted Love Island’s Maura and Curtis’ split weeks ago

After seven months together, Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard have officially called it quits.

The pair met on series five of Love Island , coming fourth in the hit ITV show in the year Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea were crowned winners.

It's been a slightly bumpy ride for the couple since leaving the villa, with numerous allegations of cheating – which they have both denied.

And after Maura nabbed a six-figure contract with Ann Summers as well as a place on Dancing On Ice, and Curtis appeared on BBC One's The Greatest Dancer, their conflicting schedules made it difficult for the pair to spend any time with each other.

But, it seems Match dating expert Hayley Quinn saw the signs the couple were going to split long before it happened.

Hayley said the couple's break-up didn't come as a huge surprise to her, claiming "there were plenty of other factors to suggest this relationship wasn't destined to go the distance."

She said that what most people tend to forget, is that whilst most love island couples jump into relationships within their first few weeks of leaving the villa, Maura and Curtis waited six months.

But, could their busy schedules be partly to blame?

She added: "These are two people in their 20s, with the pressure of newfound fame, who don't know each other all that well – it's not hard to see that this relationship may not have worked.

"After all, the couple have barely been spotted together for the past month – not exactly the behaviour of two people who are committed and feel really connected to one another.

"I'm sure they may have felt some pressure to stay together as a bankable celebrity couple. Like all relationships, there's always a logical 'reason' to stay together. But if the relationship doesn't feel right, it's better to part ways."

And despite the cheating rumours, which the couple have denied, Hayley said: "Their breakup seems more likely due to the fact that, after only just getting to know one another, they realised there wasn't enough between them to see their relationship develop beyond initial attraction."

Maura took to Instagram to confirm their split, saying: "Curtis and I have made the decision to separate. We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship

"There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side. We tried to make it work but it wasn't to be and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future."

Curtis is yet to speak out about the split, but posted a picture with his family alongside the caption: "#Family. The people that always support me ….. "
