Emily Andrea admits she's not sure lockdown will be enough to beat the Covid-19 crisis – after Boris Johnson plunged the country into a third one earlier this month.
The doctor opened up in her column with OK! revealing: "We’re in a national lockdown now and I think it’s good we’ve taken action, because things would have only got worse, but I don’t have much confidence that lockdown actually works.
"We seem to have been doing it for nearly a year and not much has changed, but that’s not to say that I know what the right thing is, and I don’t think we have many options at the moment to prevent the NHS from becoming overwhelmed."

Emily also opened up about her husband Peter Andre's diagnosis with the virus, adding: "As you might have heard, Peter has tested positive for coronavirus. At the time of writing this he has just received his result back.
"He’s resting and doing well – luckily he knows a good doctor! Jokes aside, we are all keeping away from him and can’t wait to give him a hug when his self isolation passes."
Despite the restrictions, many celebrities have appeared to flout the rules to jet off to sunnier climates in the Dubai or Caribbean.
Giving her opinion, Emily insists: "So many celebrities have been criticised for travelling abroad during lockdown. We don’t know the circumstances and some of them could be working, but I think if they are breaking the rules then they shouldn’t be putting it on social media when we’re all stuck in lockdown back home!
"Former Love Island star Zara Holland was lucky to only receive a £4,417 fine after breaching quarantine rules in Barbados. You have to put the health of other people first and to try and leave Barbados after her boyfriend tested positive wasn’t the right thing to do."
Peter is recovering from coronavirus at the family home in Surrey, which he and Emily share with their children Millie, seven, and Theo, four, and Pete’s children Princess, 13, and Junior, 15.
Taking to Instagram, Pete thanked his wife for being a ‘legend’ following his positive test.
“Thanks for being a bit of a legend the last few days @dr_emily_official,” wrote the 47 year old.

Pete also responded to a fan after they asked him if his positive Covid test means his son Theo also had coronavirus after he thought he had picked something up from the youngster.
The Mysterious Girl singer replied: “After looking at all the symptoms he had with the rash etc it’s quite possible. Just honestly don’t know.'
Pete said he was “aching all over” and his back was in “agony” whilst waiting for the results of his test, but he felt ‘grateful’ he hadn’t become sicker with the virus.
