The “Wagatha Christie” war rages on 18 months after Coleen Rooney first made shock claims that Rebekah Vardy’s social media account was leaking stories about her personal life.

But as the legal dispute launched by Rebekah, 39, threatens to spill over into a costly court face-off, a source close to Coleen, 34, tells new that she won’t apologise for making her allegations public.

“Coleen isn’t throwing in the towel or giving up. She won’t apologise, but she wants to avoid piling on court costs,” our source claimed.

Following Coleen’s shock revelations in 2019, Rebekah sued the fellow WAG for libel.

The case, which has been ongoing since October, is scheduled to be heard in the high court this July.

If the case goes to trial, the loser could face paying the other party’s legal costs, which could take the bill to more than £2 million.

According to new ’s source, Coleen is keen to avoid a court case, but finding peace won’t necessarily mean she would apologise
to Rebekah.

“Rebekah wants an apology, but Coleen won’t back down,” the source claimed. “All Coleen wanted was for the stories to stop and Rebekah to apologise. She realises now that it’s not going to happen, so she wants them to agree to disagree and walk away.”

Coleen, who has four boys – Kai, 11, Klay, seven, Kit, five, and three-year-old Cass – with Derby County manager Wayne, 35, is said to be feeling the strain of the looming court case.

“Coleen recognises that a court case would be a huge waste of money and just wants to put this behind her. She’s got a young family and is feeling the strain of this bubbling in the background.

The pandemic has made her realise what is important in life and she just wants this over with. But that doesn’t mean she’s weak
or will apologise, she’s just worried about her family and has had enough.”

Lawyers for mum-of-five Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City footballer Jamie, told the court last year that legal action was the last resort for Rebekah in order to “vindicate her reputation”.

With both WAGs feeling they are in the right, it’s no wonder that attempts at mediation are reported to have failed so far. Does this mean a bitter battle until the end? Only time will tell…
